Project Description:

Tamanu oil is a exotic nut oil that grows in various parts of Vanuatu and some other countries. The hardwood tree, in other parts of the world, have been heavily forested for timber. The tamanu nut provides a sustainable income for Ni-Vanuatu forager farmers, whom can harvest the nuts twice year so the nuts can be converted into pure, golden oil.   Virgin Tamanu oil is both a beauty and healing oil. According to numerous research reports Tamanu is nature’s way to fast track the growth of fresh, healthy skin cells.

Project Description:

The Tamanu tree  is a large tree root that grows on the foreshores of the South Pacific and other parts of the world including South East Asia. The tree produces seeds that  can be harvested twice annually. These seeds, once dried using a careful process, can be pressed for virgin oil. The oil can be used as a substitute for olive oil in all forms of cosmetics (face creams and cleansers) as well as products promoting clear skin or growth of healthy skin tissue.

Project Steps:

  1. Locate buyers of Tamanu oil world wide who are interested in committing to a monthly purchase packed in 20kg oil drums.
  2.  Allocate Vanuatu rural farmers to the project.
  3. Track with Rurapp traceability tools every harvest from specific farmer fields located throughout Vanuatu.
  4. Organize the harvesting, trading and logistics for the project using Rurapp tools and mobile money platforms.
  5. Process the harvested tamanu nuts using drying racks & oil press and pack for export and delivery to the Project backers (buyers),

Recommended backer profile:

Our farmer & buyer members are collaborative minded farmers and value chain operators, sophisticated commodity traders, and enthusiastic brands. But no matter where they come from, they all believe in finding and supporting clean & authentic food initiatives.

Specifically, Project Umber is relevant to the following types of companies and consumer brands:

  •  Non-GMO / Organic skin care/personal care manufacturer & brands
  •  Natural oil wholesalers
  •  Commodity traders with a relationship with above type buyers

Project Profile:

All farmers in this project are living in a least developed country. The crops will be paid at fair trade prices which are agreed to with farmer community consultation

Tamanu trees are very old and provides protection from high water erosion.  This Project creates cashflow to the landowner families such that they are not tempted to log the tree for it’s high value hard wood.  The Tamanu tree flourishes with seeds twice a year. The harvests are fully sustainable.

Vanuatu farmers are all small scale, family run farms. The farms are hand worked without heavy machinery.

The Vanuatu farms are pristine. The lands are volcanic enriched and very rich in nutrients. All Farms in this project have never been exposed to synthetic chemicals. All farms are not located near ANY GMO crops.

Project Visionary Final Word:

PageLines-avatar_big_5_1393201502.jpgHi, my name is Simon, the Project Tahoe visionary. Tamanu oil has long been an important part of my life and I have seen so many companies and countless customers who have benefited from this pure & powerful oil.

A very cool part of this Project is that Tamanu nuts are generally harvested by school kids and their mums. Why? Because it is so simple! This foraging includes no climbing. The nuts that have fallen to the ground are the one’s that need to be harvested and they are light and easy to pick up.

There are so many articles online talking about the health and beauty advantages of Tamanu oil. The market opportunities are abound in multiple market segments. Please Back this Project today or email me for more information:
